The articles are brilliant. The video discussions are thought provoking. Christian or not, the principles taught by this ministry are necessary to consider before engaging in meaningful discussion on the big questions with proponents of Christianity and skeptics of it.

I had a complete nervous breakdown a year prior to finding Capturing Christianity on YouTube. Before my breakdown I was an average Christian. My breakdown happened the same time my sister passed away unexpectedly and I started questioning all of my beliefs. Fast forward a year of nihilistic despair, existential dread and existential anxiety. Depression and seeking answers I came across CC on YouTube and that brought me to the FB group and to Apologetics in general long story short CC helped restore my faith in God and pull me from a dark place.

Honestly, I had put Capturing Christianity as a “See first” page since its start I think. It’s, in the same time, educational and funny! First, it had equipped me with knowledge and arguments that helped me in my conversations with my atheist friends. Second, being a funny apologetic page is also very important in a time atheists had often laughed at religion thinking they are the smartest! Capturing Christianity is one of the only Christian media outlets which is not only engaging with and propagating the work of top Christian academics ( with professional recording and editing thanks to Cameron’s background in photography and audio), but, additionally and crucially, this ministry is engaging in apologetics utilising (*I’m from the UK so no “Z”) the technologies and platforms which “millennials” and “Gen-Z”-ers frequent for entertainment and socialising.

It is no secret that a significant cultural shift has taken place between our youngest generations and their parents, fueled in part by access to information and technological “progress”: reaching out to these individuals requires engaging them where they are at. There have been many apologetics ministries which have produced incredible content over the past twenty years or so — ReasonableFaith to name one of them — however, the “new-atheism” and “internet infidel” culture has moved on from the likes of academic debates in universities to the “popular level”; where individual YouTube stars need only make a single video, on how the Bible is {sexist, homophobic, take your pick..}, in order to go viral and proliferate anti-Christian rhetoric. This kind of polemic saturates YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit et al. and it is crucial that Christian voices rise up to defend the faith, showing those to whom the internet is their greatest lens into reality that Christianity is actually an intellectually viable option and, BTW, it is true!

It seems to me like Cameron has one of the few Christian channels which understands this new technological landscape and has adapted to this new world of information and technology – engaging and refuting the detractors of Christianity at the “popular level”. Furthermore, Cameron, not being an academic theologian, makes this content accessible; yet his apparent vast self-studied knowledge gives us lay-Christians something to aspire to. The high quality video and artistry makes this channel a joy to watch and it is a pleasure to see the style and content evolve over time as the ministry progresses.

One of the most significant ways this ministry has impacted me (and I’m sure many others) is in making the work of some of these lesser known Christian-intellectual and academic giants from the past hundred years have their voices known, giving them a platform and a voice rather than hiding away in some obscure academic chair in the middle of nowhere. This has exposed me to many arguments and ideas I otherwise would not have come across (Reformed Epistemology being one of those for example). I see this ministry preserving, spreading and expounding on the life-works of some of these these philosophers and theologians, who the “normal” Christian might otherwise have never even heard of!

Capturing Christianity has provided quality, engaging content and has challenged and developed my views and Christian understanding.
