After months of thinking about it, I’ve decided it’s finally time to start a podcast. One of the reasons I didn’t start it earlier was because I knew how much time it would require, not only of me, but also my family. Writing articles, planning and hosting discussions (the planning part actually takes a lot), setting up interviews with philosophers and theologians, these already require a lot of my time. I knew that adding a podcast to the mix was going to compound the problem.
Ministry Status
As many of you know, I am not doing Capturing Christianity full-time. It’s currently at the status of intense hobby. What this means is that, in order to make the podcast a thing, I will have to cut back in other areas. So instead of producing 1-2 articles a week, we’re looking at 1-2 every other week. Instead of doing a live discussion every month, we’re looking at a live discussion every other month. That formula should free up enough time for what I have planned for the podcast.
Now, of course this setup is temporary. The hope is that, as we continue to consistently dish out solid content, we’ll eventually have enough financial support to go full-time. Once we do that, content production will increase 10-fold. We’ll be posting several articles a week by various authors, 3-4 live discussions per month, 1-2 podcast episodes a week, and that’s not to mention speaking engagements, video interviews with Christian philosophers, conferences, and so on. To paraphrase a friend of mine, the sky is really the limit with this ministry.
